Hi friends. I’m Jim Adler, the Texas Hammer. Today we will be discussing some of the most common things that can ruin your car accident case or other type of personal injury case.

A personal injury case is a legal dispute that arises when someone sustains injuries due to another person’s fault or carelessness. A victim will sometimes file a lawsuit against the responsible party, alleging that they have suffered financial and/or physical losses due to their actions. This video will provide viewers with 7 things that can ruin your personal injury case especially as it relates to motor vehicle accidents.

The first thing is a failure to call the police at the scene of an accident. The police will be able to document the accident scene and injuries. They will also prepare a report that includes witness statements, details and pictures at the accident scene. This is vital to your accident claim. If possible you should also try to get pictures and contact information at the scene.

The second thing that can ruin your case is to delay in getting medical treatment or to disregard medical advice. Often after an accident, there is a delayed response to pain and injury. You should still go to the hospital by ambulance or at least go to your doctor as soon as possible to get checked out.

Third, it is important that you consult with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible. They will handle the business end of your case so you can focus on getting better. They will also protect your legal rights and ensure that you get the compensation and benefits you deserve for your injuries.

The fourth thing that can ruin your case is making exaggerated or unsupported claims for damages, which may lead to future problems. Do not lie or exaggerate about anything. Be truthful. If your credibility is questioned, your case will be ruined.

Fifth, it can be disastrous to your case if you give a statement to the at-fault insurance company or sign anything without a lawyer. One of the biggest reasons for getting a personal injury lawyer on your side right away is to take care of all your legal questions and issues. You cannot trust the opposing insurance company to be fair. They do not have your best interest in mind. They want to make sure you get as little as possible.

Sixth, is to be cautious about actively using social media. There are many horror stories about clients that post pictures of themselves in a social setting looking both healthy and happy. These pictures and posts can be used against you and can ruin your claim.

Finally, never speak to the other party or accept any offer without consulting with a lawyer. You have a personal injury lawyer representing you. Let your lawyer handle all your legal concerns. Talking to the other side could ruin your claim.
